Rigos BAR Review will be offering a live "full service" California Bar Review course for the February 2010 exam at Golden Gate Law School in San Francisco starting on November 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. The materials we will use are the Aspen-Emanuel-Rigos 2010-2011 edition of the MBE 2-volume set, the California Essay Exam review, and the California Performance Test review.
Some of the reasons to take the Rigos "full-service" California Bar Review include:
Superior Paced Schedule - We are using a better sequencing learning paced schedule than the competition. By stretching the learning out at a relaxed two class a week pace, there is less student anxiety and stress. Of more import is that this allows more time for you to create Magic Memory Outlines and master the unique MBE question characteristics including tricks, nuances, red herrings, and seductive distracters. The multiple-choice questions are generally not too familiar to law students and take time to master beyond understanding the legal rules. Therefore, we are scheduling the MBE subjects for the first half of the class cycle.
Better and More Varied MBE Questions - To adequately prepare, students must work a ton of the MBE style of questions. Our books have over 1,700 questions with full answer rationales that will reinforce the law and get you familiar with the question structure and tricks. Question maps cross reference the questions to the text so you can easily relate the two. Within the chapters, the first third are "learning questions" that are designated right in the text. They are intended to reinforce learning the law and are generally easier than the actual MBE. The final two-thirds of the questions in every chapter are as, or more, difficult than the MBE, and you will usually want to to read all the four answer rationales. If you struggle with the hard ones, and you will, the actual exam itself will seem easy.
Make Your Own Exam Software - In addition to the printed book, all our multiple-choice questions are also on a CD-ROM. One of the software features is the ability to pick 5, 10, 20, 50, or 100 questions at random from our test bank. The program pulls that number of questions from all the MBE subjects. This is perfect for a make-your-own drill that can be used whenever you have a few extra minutes.
Magic Memory Outlines - Our Magic Memory Outline software contains templates that our students use to summarize the textual and question coverage. The result is your own concise book that can be committed to memory.
Essay and Performance Subjects Online Grading - Halfway through the course schedule, we turn to the California essay and performance subjects. This sequence allows time for you to master the necessary essay writing style with timely feedback from our grader-mentors after you are "on top of" the MBE. The online electronic essay writing program includes the California Performance questions. Students upload their answers directly to our grading team. Our students attribute the real-time essay grading service as one of the most important reasons they passed with confidence.
My Rigos Study Place - Every student has their own private web page on our website. All your questions marked up by our graders, scores, and grading comments and suggestions are contained there. This allows you to track your progress. It also serves as a handy reference tool for our grader-mentors' discussion sessions to review your progress.
Exam Week Cram and Highlighter - The last weekend - February 20 and 21, 2010 - we hold a two day session that reviews the most testable topics in contracts, torts, property, evidence, constitutional law, and criminal law and procedure.
FREE Orientation - The November 28 9:00 a.m. free orientation class at Golden Gate Law School will cover everything you need to know. The morning will be focused on the California exam, how we approach it, and how you should schedule your time and prepare your own Magic Memory Outlines using our software. The afternoon will cover question characteristics, writing style, and we will work through the California Performance book which, like the MBE, is the Aspen-Emanuel-Rigos 2010-2011 edition. You will leave the class with a thorough understanding of the Rigos program. You will also receive your first week's preview assignment for criminal law and a Performance question that you will submit electronically to our grader-mentors.
"Seamless Process" - If you stick with our organized, structured paced program, it is hard to fail the bar exam. The whole of the components in our "seamless process" is greater than the sum of the parts. Even if you are doing home-study or blended preparation (which is quite popular), it is best to stay with our class schedule subject coverage for essay grading efficiency.
Recorded Lectures - All lectures are recorded and available for downloading for make-up, reinforcement, blended, or totally home-study programs.
