California Professional Conduct and Ethics

This course meets the requirement of the California Board of Accountancy (CBA) for 2 CPE hours of California specific ethics.  It contains all legislative and CBA changes enacted by the legislature and Board through June 30, 2011.

THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR:

  • California CPA firms desiring a comprehensive ethical and legal liability sensitivity training workshop for both partners and general staff employees.
  • Quality Control Partners of California CPA firms reviewing and updating their internal CPA firm ethical principles and procedures.
  • Individual CPAs desiring to meet the California Board of Accountancy requirement of 4 hours of CE covering Professional Ethics and Conduct for CPAs/CAs.

  • Review CPA responsibilities and conduct described in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and California State Board of Accountancy's (CSBA) Code of Ethics.
  • How to identify ethical issues involved in making professional accounting decisions.
  • How to recognize the considerations in analysis and resolution of ethical dilemmas.
  • How to apply ethical rules and guidelines to public accounting situations.
  • Review dozens of actual reported cases and protective engagement forms.

Author Information

  • Jim Rigos is an accountant (CPA-CMA) and an attorney (JD, LLM) who graduated from Boston University Law School. He has written and lectured widely in the area of individual, professional and CPA firm ethics and legal liability.
  • He is an experienced mediator/arbitrator and a past member of AICPA’s Accountants Legal Liability Task Force. He also serves as a National Director of the American Association of Attorney-CPAs and is past President of the Washington State chapter.
  • He has personally handled over 200 legal-ethical cases involving CPAs in the last 23 years.
